MASSAGE FAQ
-
‘Fa-sha’ is the web-like substance that encases our muscles, bones, organs and nerves, providing the framework that supports function and gives structure to our inner landscape. It is continuous, meaning there are no breaks in fascia from the toes to the crown of the head.
-
Using broad and slow strokes, the practitioner is able to lengthen ‘stuck’ fascial tissue to restore glide, remove restrictions or and assist the body’s natural processes of circulation, detoxification and function of the nervous system.
Through treating the fascia itself, we create a holistic approach to addressing pain, restriction and discomfort.
Through releasing tension, lifting adhesions and rehydrating fascia via MRM’s specific strokes, you can expect to feel a greater sense of ease and freedom in movement, more range of motion, lighter and more ‘spacious’ in your body, as well as an overall sense of calmness and wellbeing. It positively affects your posture, allowing your body to hold itself more upright in gravity, relieving strain and tension and encouraging proper function of the deep stabiliser muscles of the body.
-
Extremely effective both as a standalone treatment and alongside other modalities,
MRM is especially adept in supporting recovery from:
Repetitive Strain Injuries
Tennis/Golfers Elbow
Plantar Fasciitis
Shin Splints
Poor Posture
Joint Pains
Tension Headaches
Frozen Shoulder
Whiplash
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Spinal Kyphosis, Scoliosis, Lordosis
Breathing Difficulties - Asthma & Shallow Breathing
Surgery/Injury and Scar-Tissue Rehab
-
MRM is structural in nature, meaning the actual structure of fascia and tissue is being shifted. This necessitates a certain degree of friction, force transfer and applied pressure. Tension and tightness creates discomfort when being released, but the sense afterwards is great relief. I generally say to my clients that ‘you feel much better after you get off the table then you do necessarily whilst you’re on it.’

Please wear comfortable clothing that is easily moved or removed. Upper body sessions don’t require the removal of pants/underwear but will require bras & necklaces to be removed. Lower body sessions will warrants the removal of pants/bottoms (but not underwear). There will be towels available and you will be given a moment of privacy to change out of and back into your garments. Preserving the client’s modesty is a professional principle I seek to uphold.
COACHING FAQ
-
A CHEK (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) practitioner is a health professional trained to assess and address the whole person, integrating physical, mental, emotional, and chemical body systems. They use a holistic approach to health and wellness, focusing on musculoskeletal balance, corrective exercise, and lifestyle coaching. CHEK practitioners are trained to identify the root cause of health issues and create personalized plans to help clients achieve their goals.
-
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) is a rehabilitation and training approach that focuses on optimizing movement patterns by activating the body's natural movement strategies, similar to those developed during infancy. It's based on developmental kinesiology, which studies how babies learn to coordinate muscles and develop movement patterns. DNS aims to restore efficient muscle firing patterns and promote pain-free movement by tapping into the body's innate motor control system.
-
CHEK coaching integrated with DNS rehabilitation provides a robust system within which we can address multiple aspects of the human experience.
We address:
Physical pain and discomfort through stretching, mobilisation and trigger point release
Improving posture and function through corrective exercise application
Working with the rehabilitative approach to restoring function in the body where injury, surgery or accident has left you incapacitated in some way.
Optimising breathing mechanics via education and instruction on the breath
A lifestyle audit of diet and sleep patterns, hydration habits, environmental influences and stressors
A personal history that includes injuries, surgeries and the top 5 stressful events that occurred in your life.
A look into the thoughts, beliefs and personal narratives that have become embedded in your subconscious, how they’re creating your reality and how to change.
And much more…
